Organized by Rotorway Exec 162F owner Bill Sacker this took place in superb open country side on the southern bank of Rutland Water at the Rutland Golf Club.  The weather was fine and clear although a little chilly and several Rotorway’s attended with parking thankfully just out of range of the many golfers.  A good time was had by all and the BBQ, run by Bill in his usual ex army shorts (he always dresses up for these occasions) and helped by his friendly wife was fantastic, with a queue forming for his scrumptious hot dogs, burgers and onions.  Food and drink was also available in the club house and our thanks go to Bill for his hard work at this wonderful site, must do this again Bill.

A second fly in was arranged for September by Rotorway owner Ivan Bedford at Skegness Airfield. It was thought that September should be fine and dry but true to the British weather it poured of rain. David and I drove up and several times we thought about turning around and going home as we slowed down on the flooded roads.

But get there we did and inside the nice dry hangar Ivan had several Rotorway’s and about 12 owners or enthusiasts to talk helicopters with.  It was clear that Ivan had gone to a lot of trouble to stage this fly in, all credit to him.  But our weather again proved that no amount of planning can outwit it.
