G-NJBA

Nick Beehoo is our latest customer to complete his type rating with us onto his own Rotorway Exec 162F G-NJBA.  Nick built his Rotorway in his business workshop so he was able to work on the build during quiet periods during his working day.

As always there were not too many quiet periods and with other family commitments the build took longer than expected. On completion it was brought to us to build the main blades, add the avionics and carry out the painting.  Nick also owns a share in a Yak and is an accomplished aerobatic pilot but at the moment he is building hours in his Rotorway and thoroughly enjoying himself.

G-JONG

Back in early summer 08 Jonathan George completed his type rating onto his Rotorway Exec 162F G-JONG here with us at Southern Helicopters.  Jonathan took the unusual step of buying a nearly completed kit from a private builder in the U.S. it was soon clear to him that although the build standard was quite good many areas needed work so he stripped it back to its bare parts and rebuilt it as a new kit.

Talon First View

THE ROTORWAY A600 TALON UP CLOSE.

Late October was the date of our visit to the new Rotorway factory in Arizona.  With temperatures at 102F in the Phoenix area it was quite a shock after leaving our car at Gatwick a few hours earlier covered in frost. Our first view of Rotorway’s new facilities situated about 4 miles from the old site was one of a gleaming white modern building with acres of dark reflective glass, tall palm like trees and exotic plants.
